SURFACE PROTECTION FILMS

Adhesive coaters, automotive engineers, appliance designers and electronic display manufacturers around the world look to Argotec for high-performance, aliphatic polyurethane surface-protection films with the consistent optical clarity, conformability, UV resistance, lay-flat, and Class-A gloss finish they require for their products.

Perhaps the largest extruder of uncoated urethane paint protection films for the global automotive aftermarket, Argotec utilizes a proprietary polyurethane formulation that, for the last decade, has provided outstanding processability for the adhesive coater.  ArgoGuard paint- and surface-protection films are also highly printable, expanding the application of these long-lasting films to automotive and other graphics that require outdoor weatherability and abrasion resistance.  (For more information on films for graphics applications, click here to go to the ArgoGraph® section of this web site.) 

In addition to our single-layer PPFs, we also offer ArgoGuard 49510-60DV, a multi-layer surface protection product that combines soft and hard polycaprolactone TPU into a single sheet having outstanding UV resistance.  The base layer has a hardness of Shore 93A for optimum conformability; the surface layer's Shore 60D hardness increases durability, abrasion and chip resistance.  ArgoGuard 49510-60DV is available with a gloss surface in thicknesses of 1-12 mils and widths up to 62 inches on a 2 mil PET carrier.  No plasticizers, additives or processing aids are used, which results in consistent adhesive compatibility/anchorage.

CARRIERS FOR ANY APPLICATION

ArgoGuard uncoated paint- and surface-protection films are available in thicknesses from 1.0 to 12 mils. They can be cast on polyethylene or polyester carriers for ease of handling in the adhesive coating process, or as a component of the product to aid in final installation of the film.

NOTE: Argotec manufactures uncoated TPU paint- and surface-protection films.  For coated films, have your PSA coater contact us for the best ArgoGuard film for your specific application.

NOT JUST FOR CARS & TRUCKS

ArgoGuard films are also ideal for protecting vulnerable surfaces on more than just cars and trucks. They provide excellent abrasion and impact resistance for motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles, appliances, gloss metallic surfaces on computers, cell phone components, propeller blades, and any other metal, glass, or plastic surface needing protection from scrapes, scouring, or other types of erosive damage. They can also be used as a protective interlayer when bending materials in a sheet metal brake.

IDEAL FOR ELECTRONIC SCREEN PROTECTION

In addition to providing exceptional shielding for painted and other vulnerable surfaces, ArgoGuard films are ideal for  protecting delicate screens in an ever-expanding array of electronic devices, from computer displays, PDA's and camera LDCs to iPads, iPhones and GPS screens.  Made from the same durable polyurethane resins that protect car finishes, wind turbine and helicopter blades from punishing abrasion and weathering - day in and day out - these versatile films, after adhesive coating, can be die cut to the specific configurations of the most popular electronic devices on the market today, and those still to come.

Engineers at the Argotec Innovation Center stand ready to interact with process engineers at our PSA coater-customers to ensure that all ArgoGuard films perform properly in their production processes.  They are also available to test the newest resins, engineer distinct formulations, and to troubleshoot both new and existing applications.  

Two recent examples of our commitment to your production efficiency and ultimate success are:

• Our new J-hook packaging system that minimizes waste by eliminating flat spots on the outside of the roll.
• A new PET leader that is prewound around the core, just like the leader on a cassette tape.  The leader is then fastened to the ArgoGuard film using a thin 2 mil tape to minimize the "bump" caused by thicker tapes, virtually eliminating any wrinkling or deformation and the resulting end-of-roll waste.  The leader also allows converters to splice roll-to-roll without the loss of any  finished film.

The end result is maximum utilization of useable ArgoGuard film and more money in your pocket.
